What matters most to you and why?
They say, "We don't value things enough unless we lose them."
Well... I and my best buddy Morgan would like to disagree! If we had to lose something to value it, we didn't deserve it and it never mattered. Every change in my life made me value the things closest to me even more!
For me, this change began upon my unexpected departure from Stanford under some unforeseen circumstances during undergrad, which I later completed. As a guy, who was raised by his sister Ellie, after our parents made the painful choice to leave us, I could not have been more grateful to have found a community with my childhood friend, Morgan, in the Nerd Herd where I worked as the supervisor trying to help people with their computer emergencies to support my family.
Another point of change happened when I met my wife Sarah at the nerd herd desk. Over the years, a life of excitement and adventure followed when I decided to work with the CIA as an analyst while preserving my job at the BuyMore. These ongoing changes took a greater part of my life from me as at the time, I was supposed to keep my position with the CIA undisclosed, affecting those around me adversely. Working on the missions gave me a renewed sense of self and every day was a new opportunity- a change that made me feel more alive than ever.
While these new experiences had their ups and downs, where it felt that I was losing everything, a great thing that came out of this change was that we got the answers to the questions as to why our parents abandoned us, which not only gave us closure, but it helped us see how changing circumstances can often lead to impossible choices that our parents had to make.
Knowing how impossible choices can be a byproduct of change, I found an opportunity to help someone navigate a similar situation. When Vivian Volkoff took helm of Volkoff industries, an international oil and gas and arms company, after departure of Alexi Volkoff, who was arrested by the CIA, I decided to help her not become her father because I knew the pain she suffered because of her father's absence all her life. But it came at a price again, as CIA insisted on keeping her as an asset than a human, Vivian naturally resisted, leading to a greyzone warfare between CIA and Volkoff industries, to settle which, I acted as a mediator and primary negotiator. I helped Vivian and Alexi get together, who decided to liquidate the company and its assets and transferred the ownership to me. Despite skepticism of the CIA, I entrusted their security and helped them go on to lead a peaceful life.
During the completion of this final CIA project, when I almost lost my wife, Sarah, I knew that change requires a price to be paid. I knew that in this ever changing world, I can help people thrive by providing them the security so they don't have to pay the price of change as we had to all our life. With this renewed sense of purpose, I decided to use the assets we acquired from Volkoff Industries to establish Carmichael Industries to change the world with private intelligence. We acquired the BuyMore Burbank and made it the most profitable branch within the first few months as we had a strong personal association because it all started or at least came together there. The risks we took to change the world came yet again at a price- this time with Sarah losing her memory in a major terrorist incident.
These incidents reinforced my purpose even more so. What matters most to me are the people, who I love and their security, and the people, who need this security so they don't have to suffer the losses that we have endured because of the changes that can affect their lives permanently. Carmichael Industries is a way I realize my purpose because just like what our motto says- "We care!"

Other than the fact that Stanford is where the change, which got me to where I am today, began, Stanford lies at the intersection of three major aspects that drive my plans for an MBA- my passion and purpose, entrepreneurship and innovation, and an unparalleled network.
Beginning with my passion to secure the lives of the people, I know that Stanford's motto to help change people's lives is perfectly aligned with my own. I have known and experienced the culture at Stanford inside out and know full well the passion that comes with being a Stanford man. Other than the minor encounter at the library with the late fee of $298.64 for a book overdue, which I must ensure you I paid in full with my credit card, every part of my experience at Stanford has been as exciting as anyone can claim!
Coming to the Entrepreneurial culture at Stanford, facilitated by Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, which could help me with the "Managing Growing Enterprises" as I can gain the formal education required to manage Carmichael industries as we begin to scale it this year. Additionally, I want to engage with the E-Club, where I want to use the Venture capital arm of Carmichael industries to invest more into people innovating in the weapons industry and spy technologies and develop a network with the future changemakers so they can change our organizational impact.
Lastly, I want to realize the impact of changing the world and create a network with people coming from diverse backgrounds and nations. Stanford, being at the heart of innovation capital of the world, attracts driven people who want to change the world and I aspire to develop my network with them so that in the pursuit of my purpose to have what matters most to me, we can change the world!
