CHICAGO BOOTH SHORT ANSWER PROMPTS

Chicago Booth recently changed their no word limit essay prompts to short answer questions, making the process even more challenging where people have to answer in less than 300 characters. So, our lovely Michael Scott now has to answer these questions!

What is your immediate post-MBA career goal?

Post-MBA, my immediate goal is to launch a tech startup in the paper and office supply industry that helps promote the positive usage of paper in domains such as art, with a climate-conscious approach so while we embrace the future with technology, we can still celebrate the things that bring us together.

Approach: When answering this question, remember a few things. You need to include- function, industry, location, company names (if any) and the vision or motivation behind your goals.

What is your long-term post-MBA career goal?

In the long run, I aspire to have an enduring impact in the paper industry by catering to the important niche that bring people together and leave a legacy as the leader in creating innovative papers for industries such as the art industry and sustainable luxury packaging.

Approach: There is more breathing room in the long term goals to be less specific but this is the place where you want the motivation and purpose to come out. With Michael Scott, we have put a vague idea of how he potentially loves the paper industry a lot and he wants to lead a niche.

Upload an image and explain its significance to you.

This image was when our receptionist was following her passion and she created a painting of our office to showcase in the art show. Interestingly, this was the day my passion for paper industry was also reaffirmed as was my belief in my employees. She was truly overjoyed that I bought the painting for the office that made it a wholesome moment.

Approach: This picture was chosen because this was a turning point in Michael's life as it was literally after an event where Michael's motivation for the paper industry was shown and though not intentional, this was a wholesome moment where he motivated an employee and made her day by asking to name her price and put that art in the office. As the ones who would have watched the show must already know, before Pam left for Austin, she took that painting with her. This picture sums it all up- Michael's motivation & passion, his support to the employees' personal lives and passions, and his true willingness to lift people up. A brilliant demonstration of the qualities schools love

Share a fun fact or something unique about yourself.

In my term as the regional manager at Dunder Mifflin, we became the only branch to strike profits despite having a record number of extracurricular activities such as, the marathon, diversity day, employee appreciation days and so much more that just made the branch more vibrant.

Approach: MBA programs want students who are involved in extracurricular activities and are more engaged in the community that adds to the vibrance of the culture. This fun fact emphasizes precisely the part of Michael Scott that make him a great fit.
