ESSAY 1 PROMPT
How will a Booth MBA help you achieve your immediate and long-term post-MBA career goals? (Minimum 250 words, no maximum.)
UNDERSTANDING THE ESSAY PROMPT (Creator's commentary will be made available for this article later highlighting more concepts in depth)
Beauty of both the Booth Essays lies in two things- 1. Open-ended simplicity, 2. Limitless opportunity to provide context. But, this doesn't mean that Booth will be happy about you trying to turn everything into an over-worded document which has nothing to do with you. I recommend a virtual word limit range of 750-1000 words for this essay. Go over if and only if it is completely essential and the whole essay will fall apart without it. Understanding the application requirements is as important as every component of your application is part of a whole.
Few things that are straight forward- Short-term and Long term goals need to be stated, How Booth MBA will get you there needs to be stated and obviously know that there is a second essay that serves as a complement to this one asking, "Who you are". Keeping these three in mind, I also recommend drawing parallels with the CBS Goals essay. A lot of the things will remain similar to that but may be, this one gives a better opportunity to expand on some of those things such as the motivation, difference in curriculum- Booth prides itself on the flexible curriculum as is available to see in their blog video.
One of the common mistakes is force fitting. Why? Many of the people who are looking to go down the traditional recruiting path might not require flexible curriculum so forcing yourself to put the flexible curriculum may not be in your interest. A lot of people choose traditional recruiting path as can be seen in the employment report by the career services. Booth also prides itself on its career services for life and strong alumni network around the world. And this beautiful piece of architecture- The Rockefeller Chapel!

All those things aside, coming back to the essay writing! Structure recommended will remain the same as Columbia Goals essay but a few things will certainly change. You can follow your own writing style depending on the flow of things but generally, starting with your motivation, going to your goals and then explaining why the school would be a good fit for you is the basic way to answer such questions but not a requirement. Again, much like everything else, at MBA Conquerors, we recommend keeping everything about your applications around your purpose. Anything other that will hardly add any value unless you are a non-traditional applicant.

ESSAY RESPONSE
While attending an art show where Pam, one of my employees at Dunder Mifflin and a fellow founding team member of Michael Scott Paper Company, was showcasing her drawings, I had just come back from an event where I spoke and was asked about the future of the paper industry, which was facing a decline. At that time, I didn't have a definite answer. When I arrived at the art show, I saw that Pam had drawn some things that brought us all together at Dunder Mifflin- our office building and my car parked right next to hers in those drawings. I told her I wanted to buy the art for the office and Pam was overjoyed to know that we will have that piece of art that connected us all at the front desk for everyone to see. Witnessing Pam's joy at the art exhibition provided me with the answer for the question I had no words for at the event in the business school. Whether it's a love letter, a greeting card, a contract, or a piece of art, paper plays a significant role in connecting us in the realm of relationships. In that moment of reflection, I understood what fueled my passion for the paper industry - the ability to connect with others on a personal level- how it brings people together and how it helps people communicate that feeling of belonging.
Post-MBA, my immediate goal is to launch a tech startup in the paper and office supply industry that helps promote the positive usage of paper in domains such as art, with climate conscious approach so while we embrace the future with technology, we can still celebrate the things that bring us together. Ellie Woodcomb, a Chicago resident moved from LA, showed me how Booth lies at the intersection of my entrepreneurial pursuits, advocacy for enduring impact and love for bringing people together.
After speaking with Madhav Rajan at Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, I really got to learn about the unique aspects of Polsky Exchange where the small business development center allows me to work in an incubator environment to help me launch my startup. I am most excited by the mentorship program where I can get advice from my peers, tailored advice from seasoned professionals and get a front row seat to see industry leaders guide me on the future path with amazing events. I can use my learnings from my previous startup with a successful exit and combine it with the strategies taught in these practical learning experiences to drive transformational growth for my next startup. Learning about the Elfman-Wareham Private Equity and Venture Capital Lab (PE/VC Lab) was just a delight as I can apply my learning from the challenges around fundraising with my previous startup and try to get to understand the mindset of an investor with this course. As I also anticipate that acquisitions would be a crucial part of my growth strategy, learning about the Booth-Kellogg Entrepreneurship through Acquisition Conference from one of the co-chairs of Entrepreneurship through acquisition group gave me an opportunity to learn more about the different ways self funded search funds operate in their speaker series. With a network of such groups of people, it can be an opportunity for growth and collaboration while I pursue my goals.
Knowing that Rustandy Center for Social innovation was helping reshape the ESG investing at Booth was a learning experience in itself as I looked into the impact investing course. I want to learn how ESG investing works as it will allow me to learn the mindset of the investors who are looking to help shape the world as we know it. It will allow me to adopt more responsible approaches to structure the business model so we can attract more investments and get a network of supporters on the board who can help us navigate the challenges we face as a climate conscious company as I apply the learnings from the courses such as, the political economy of climate change to understand the influence of various government entities on climate change. Outside of class, as a future co-chair of the Booth Climate and Sustainability group, I can bring in my perspectives having worked in one of the industries that is generally the center of attention for climate conscious individuals.
In the pursuit of my goals, I wish to build as powerful connection with the cohort as I did with my coworkers at Dunder Mifflin Inc. with the same energy to treat each day as a new one and have fun together creating new experiences in the Windy city exploring the different culture and cuisines. I know that at Booth, I can make connections with diverse people from all over the world. Now, as I set my eyes to leave an enduring impact in the paper industry, I know that my previous experiences combined with the resources at Booth can make that dream a reality- Michael Scott Paper Company 2 is set live the American Dream!
