At Michigan Ross, we believe the best way to learn is by doing. In our Full-Time MBA Program, you will put your skills and knowledge to the test in real-world situations with real stakes.
How will this learning environment benefit you, and how do you plan to contribute to the action-based learning experience? (300 words)

At Michigan Ross, the commitment to learning by doing resonates deeply with me. My experience leading a high-stakes corporate project exemplifies how hands-on involvement has shaped my professional growth and will enhance my contribution to Ross’s action-based learning environment.

In my previous role at Pearson Hardman, I led a critical turnaround for a troubled merger involving two multinational companies. Faced with complex legal and financial challenges, I spearheaded a strategic realignment, devising innovative solutions and managing a cross-functional team under intense pressure. This experience honed my skills in problem-solving, leadership, and communication, demonstrating the profound impact of applying knowledge to real-world scenarios.

The Ross Full-Time MBA Program’s emphasis on action-based learning, particularly through the Multidisciplinary Action Projects (MAP) course, aligns perfectly with my learning style and career goals. MAP’s immersive approach will allow me to apply classroom concepts to tangible business problems, further developing my strategic thinking and cross-functional collaboration skills. This hands-on experience will be invaluable as I aim to deepen my expertise in business strategy and enhance my ability to drive organizational change.

I plan to contribute to the Ross community by actively engaging in MAP and other experiential learning opportunities. Drawing from my past leadership experiences, I will collaborate with peers to tackle complex challenges, offering insights from my background in high-stakes negotiations and innovative problem-solving. Additionally, I am eager to share my approach to resilient leadership and effective team dynamics, enriching the collaborative learning environment at Ross.

In summary, the action-based learning environment at Michigan Ross will enable me to build on my practical experience, while my proactive involvement and leadership will contribute to the success of the MAP projects and the broader Ross community.

Part 2: How will you make an impact at Michigan Ross?
Michigan Ross is proud to support a community of leaders and impact makers. As a future member of this community, we want to know more about who you are and what drives you. Please choose 1 of the following prompts to tell us more about what makes you stand out beyond your academic and work experience. List the prompt you are answering at the top of your response. (200 words)
● What makes you unique?
● Can you provide a specific example of how you've overcome a personal challenge?
● What makes you excited to get up each morning?
● Describe a time when you made a difference in your community or with an individual.

One impactful experience where I made a difference was through my involvement with a local nonprofit providing legal aid to underprivileged individuals. I volunteered my legal expertise to help a single mother, Maria, navigate a complex custody battle. Maria, who was struggling financially, faced significant challenges in understanding the legal system and representing herself effectively.

Recognizing the gravity of her situation, I committed to guiding her through every step of the process. I provided legal advice, helped her prepare documentation, and represented her in court. My aim was not just to offer legal support but to empower Maria with the knowledge and confidence she needed to advocate for herself.

The outcome was transformative; Maria successfully secured custody of her child and gained a greater sense of stability and hope for the future. This experience highlighted my passion for using my skills to make a tangible impact on individuals’ lives and reinforced my commitment to social justice.

At Michigan Ross, I am excited to bring this same dedication to making a difference, contributing to a community of leaders who are driven to create positive change.

My short-term career goal is to develop strategic corporate connections that will enable me to expand my law firm and enhance its capabilities in corporate law. I aim to leverage these connections to attract high-profile clients and establish a strong foothold in the corporate legal landscape.

Michigan Ross is the ideal environment to achieve this goal. The school’s robust network of alumni and industry leaders provides a unique opportunity to build valuable relationships and gain insights into key business sectors. Participating in the Center for Positive Organizations and engaging with the Entrepreneurship & Venture Capital Club will allow me to connect with successful entrepreneurs and business professionals who can offer strategic guidance and potential partnership opportunities.
